Riedel Sommeliers
RIEDEL Glass was first to recognize that the bouquet, taste, balance and finish of wines are affected by the shape and size of the glass from which they are consumed.  Wine enjoyed from RIEDEL stemware showed more depth and better balance than when served in other glasses. Thus, in 1973 the SOMMELIERS collection was launched. A style of glass was born that turns a sip into a celebration – a wine’s best friend - fine- tuned to match the grape!

The premiere red wine glass of the Sommeliers collection debuted in Florence, Italy in June of 1991 to much acclaim. The shape of the glass brings out the Chianti bouquet of cherry and bitter almonds. The glass is often associated with Zinfandel and Chianti, but is also appropriate for Ajaccio, Bardolino, Primitivo, and Sangiovese, to name a few.

If you prefer to unwind with a glass of single malt whiskey, we recommend Riedel whiskey glasses. Each whiskey glass has an elongated thistle shape, truncated stem, and a slightly out-turned lip. The aforementioned design elements bring out the creaminess and unique flavors of single malt whiskey.

The Sommeliers collection is also an excellent source for burgundy wine glasses. The Chablis/Chardonnay glass is fine tuned to present wines from the Burgundy region. These types of Riedel wine glasses are recommended for sipping white wines including Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon blanc, and Viognier. For toasting happy occasions, we recommend vintage crystal champagne flutes.

While using a glass that corresponds precisely to the grape is an important part of enjoying wine, to get the best flavors decanting is necessary. A Riedel decanter can be used to separate sediment from the liquid of older wines, as well as to increase oxygenation, thus revealing complexity, in younger wines.
